报告摘要:Let G be a permutation group on a set X and recall that an element in G is called a derangement if it has no fixed points on X. Problems concerning the existence, abundance and properties of such elements have been a focus of research in permutation group theory for many years, finding a wide range of interesting (and sometimes surprising) applications. My aim in this talk is to provide an accessible introduction to this fascinating topic, highlighting along the way some of the key results (both old and new) and connections to other areas, as well as some of the main open problems.
